2013 New Years Resolutions: Cirque Fitness Challenge

Every year for the holidays people are faced with the annual ritual of making up their next New Year’s Resolution. Everyone hopes for goals such as to start going to the gym, to quit smoking, to take better care of themselves, to find a new job and number of other goals.

Well, every year at Aerial Arts of Rochester we also have New Years Resolutions, but ours include helping others to meet theirs. Each year we run something called the Cirque Fitness Challenge. This is a 12 week fitness program designed to help jump start and restructure both your physical and mental outlooks on life. This year we have teamed up with health coach Patty Hendrick of Love.Nourish.Live, and the results have been amazing.

In december 2012 we were featured by the highly popular WHAM 13 news team for fitness and health. After the highly anticipated Circus, toured through Rochester, News reporter Jennifer Johnson , wanted to give the circus arts a try. Jennifer came out to our local studio in the ARTISANworks complex on the corner of Blossom and Winton Road. While sampling out our circus apparatuses, she realized that Cirque Fitness is quite the workout and you have tons of fun in the process. This is where she let our annual Cirque Challenge out of the bag.

We had over 150 applicants this year, and narrowed them down to our final 6 participants. These challengers had commit themselves to a full schedule of Cirque exercise 4 times per week along with meetings with our new health coach Patty. So far we are only in our 7th week of the Challenge, and the participants are experiencing astounding results, such as loss of inches (in the arms, legs & core), reducing their clothing sizes, becoming stronger and more fit, an increase in their agility and muscle stamina, and much much more.

All of the challengers are doing amazing, but one of the participants Susan Woodward, a fellow blogger Amethyst Rose’s Muses has been recording her entire life changing cirque experience. Through the help of this challenge you can follow her inspiring story from beginning to end, on how she has changed her health and fitness outlook on life for the better.

You can also follow all our challengers through our Aerial Arts of Rochester FaceBook page. You can see before pictures and up to date videos and after pictures. You can even help cheer on the challengers if you’d like.

Like many others, that have found their love for the circus arts, if you would like to start your own Cirque Fitness Challenge please email us at info@AerialArtsRochester.com

Stay tuned, and “Take Flight Through Fitness”

  1. Wow…thanks for the blog plug, Will! And thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of the Cirque Family! This has been a terrific experience, and I plan to continue forward… you know I have my song already picked for my someday-routine!
